Job Summary:  In alignment with Camelback Resort’s Guiding Principles, The Director of Risk Management is responsible for the development, supervision, execution and continual improvement of all regulatory matters relating to risk, health, safety and the environment.  This position works collaboratively with all departments to promote an organization-wide approach to risk reduction, in addition to instilling a safety culture that fosters the engagement and awareness requisite of a world class safety program.

 Specific Functions:

1.     Leadership, innovation, governance and management of all Risk/EHS Programs

2.     Ensure areas of risk are identified, evaluated and monitored

3.     Oversight of the  Emergency Communication Plan, Emergency Preparedness Plan and all related policies/procedures

4.     Implementation and monitoring of applicable laws and regulations (i.e. OSHA, DEP, EPA, DOT, RCRA, etc.)

5.     Hazardous material/hazardous waste management

6.     Oversight of required training as it relates to Risk/EHS (i.e. Fall Protection, Confined Space, Mobile Equipment, Lock/Tag/Verify, Contractor Safety, RCRA, etc.)

7.     Coordinate with I-Team, Ski Patrol and/or other departments on incident investigations

8.     Communicate with guests, employees, witnesses, and/or family members regarding incidents when necessary

9.     Act as the liaison between insurance and outside legal counsel on all claims and litigation

10.  Serve as Chair of the Safety Committee

11.  Review all insurance policy renewals

12.  Coordinate the review of all liability release forms and signage

13.  Participate in job performance evaluations, when applicable

14.  Assist with all other matters relating to EHS/Risk as required

 Job Qualifications:

·      Leadership, problem solving, organizational and communication skills required

·      Able to work well with others required

·      Strong customer service skills required

·      Current, valid driver’s license required

·      Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) required

·      Advanced First Aid, EMT, or OEC Certifications preferred

·      College degree and minimum of (10) years of Risk Management experience, preferably in ski or waterpark resort

Generally accountable for:

·      Complying with all Company and departmental safety standards

·      Complying with Company and departmental dress code

·      Adhering to the Customer Service Standards of Camelback Resort

·      Adhering to Company Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook

·      Adhering to seasonal and daily Service Guidelines and Checklists

·      Communicating effectively with all members of the Camelback Resort team

·      Participating in the business planning process for the department and the Resort

·      Actively supporting all Company initiatives

 Work Conditions and Schedule:

·Exposure to extreme temperatures and weather should be expected as work will, on occasion, occur outdoors

·Weekend and holiday availability is required as well as flexibility with work schedule

·During peak seasons, the schedule may require a work week schedule over 40 hours per week, including nights
