The Ski Ranger Supervisor will supervise the Ranger Patrol in the performance of their primary organizational responsibilities of: 1) Reducing reckless and out of control skiing through skier education and enforcement of the Skiers’ Responsibility Code, 2) Conducting accident investigations, and 3) Assisting and supporting Ski Patrol when necessary.
1. Supervise all aspects of Ranger Patrol operation and I-Team investigations.
2. Train (classroom and on-the-job) new Ranger candidates and I-Team investigators. Conduct refresher training as necessary.
3. Complete in-depth investigations on serious/fatal accidents including baseline and scale drawings, and photographs. Ensure all appropriate documentation is compiled.
4. Testify in court cases, when necessary, on behalf of Camelback Mountain Resort.
5. Schedule Rangers and I-Team to ensure adequate mountain coverage during operating hours. Coordinate Volunteer Ranger Patrol weekly work schedule to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
6. Conduct routine mountain patrols to educate guests and enforce the Responsibility Code.
7. Conduct I-Team investigations as necessary. Review all Ranger and I-Team reports for correctness, completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
8. Conduct daily Ranger Patrol meetings. Communicate all relevant information to Ranger staff and ensure understanding.
9. Develop, update, and implement Ranger Patrol and I-Team Guidelines.
10. Maintain, store and monitor all Ranger Patrol equipment prior to and at the end of ski season. Maintain accountability for all company property.
11. In coordination with Ski Patrol/Ranger Patrol Director, determine budget and equipment needs.
12. Recruit, interview and hire potential Ranger Candidates.
13. Prepare for and conduct training sessions for Ranger candidates prior to the opening of ski season.
14. Prepare, compile and maintain Volunteer Ranger personnel folders to insure completeness and accuracy.
15. In coordination with Senior Volunteer Ranger Patrol Trainers, assess the progress and performance of Ranger candidates. Evaluate the candidates to determine their ability to work solo.
16. Collect, record, monitor and maintain Volunteer Ranger Patrol Daily Activity statistics. Analyze all available information and data (1Risk, Daily Activity statistics, etc.) to determine Ranger focus areas with the intention of reducing risk to guests. Coordinate and communicate with Ski Patrol, Risk Management, Lift Operations, Ski School on all matters of mutual interest.
17. Complete job performance evaluations in a timely manner.
18. Comply with all company and departmental safety standards.
19. Ensure compliance with company and departmental dress code.
20. Adherence to the Customer Service Standards of Camelback Mountain Resort as well as all company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
21. Assist the, Ski Patrol/Ranger Patrol Director daily in all other Ski and Ranger Patrol functions as required.
